Every Summer Verbo collects new backpacks and school supplies from members and other partner churches to help children in our community to start the school year off right. Many families struggle to afford the rising cost of school supplies, and this drive eases the burden and ensures all children have the tools they need to succeed in the classroom.

How you can help:

• Donate new backpacks and school supplies individually, or organize the drive for Verbo at your home church.
• Make a monetary donation which enables us to purchase additional backpack supplies as needed.
• Volunteer your time to sort and organize donations, fill backpacks, and help us distribute them to families in need at the end of our annual Touchdown Summer Camp.

Verbo hosts its Multicultural Festival as a celebration of the diverse community of North Fair Oaks, with more than 800 people in attendance annually. The Festival brings together people from the community with origins in Latin America, the U.S., and other countries to share their cultures through food, music, dance, traditional dress, art, and more. This helps to break down stereotypes, builds bridges between people living in this community and with those from beyond it too.

Some of the activities planned for the Festival each year include:

• The Parade of the Nations, with countries represented by their flags, carried by people in traditional dress;
• Food booths featuring traditional dishes from the countries represented;
• Community resource booths;
• Kids’ activities like bounce houses and face painting; and
• Live music and cultural performances of dance and theater.

The event is free for everyone.
